Historic Gettysburg Campgrounds

!±8± Historic Gettysburg Campgrounds

We all know the importance of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. There are many significant historical battles here, and some of the Gettysburg campgrounds are located on or near some of these places. One of these is the Artillery Ridge Campground. This campground is located so close to many of the battlefields that you can get a tour from horseback, just like many of the officers did. You can rent a horse, or bring your own. There are so many things to see and do here, you will come back again and again. They have many different tent camping sites, RV sites, as well as themed cabin rentals. Inside they have almost all the amenities of home, from covered decks, queen sized and bunk beds, air conditioning, and even picnic tables and fire pits. You can choose from these four to six person cabins, as well as more primitive 'cowboy' cabins. Some of the many features of this campground are a playground, paddle boat rentals, swimming pool, fishing, no license required, horse rental, and so much more. They do offer a great Battlefield Diorama, but this has moved to the Gettysburg Historical Center.

Home to the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival since 1979, another one of the great Gettysburg campgrounds has to be the Granite Hill Camping Resort. This place has a lot to offer. There are full service hook up sites, many shady and sunny tent camping spots, camping cabins, and even a bed and breakfast. As well as the annual Blue Grass Festival held here each August, there are paddle boats, a 19 hole miniature golf course, swimming pools and even a bath house, all on the 150 acre farm, made to look like the Civil War era. The new bed an breakfast is inside 1860's brick farm house. With so many onsite luxuries, trout and bass fishing, kayak and paddle boats, etc, you may have to come back to see all the tours of Gettysburg, Washington D.C. As well as ghost tours and themed weekends.

Known as the place where Lincoln made his important Gettysburg Address, the Round Top Campground is another must see Gettysburg Campgrounds. As you will find at many full service campgrounds Round Top has it all, from full hookups, swimming pools, one for adults and one just for the little ones. There are a number of courts for volleyball, shuffleboard, and even playground. There is an 18 hole mini golf course, horseshoes, and WiFi is available for an extra charge. You can rent as space short or long term, and even a lodge and store at the campground's entrance. If you are looking for a wedding reception, family reunion, or other large gathering, there is a recreation hall above the lodge and store. There are also regular activities held here, including family Bingo. For your outdoor enjoyment, you can even enjoy a movie in the evening. Hershey is close by, as well as the Gettysburg National Military park are close by, as well as a great many other local attractions.

The Gettysburg Battlefield Resort is another great family Gettysburg Campgrounds. It is privately owned, and sits centrally located to the Appalachian Trail, Soldier's National Monument, the Amish Country, and just a little over an hour to our Nation's Capitol. Sitting right next to the south edge of the most famous civil war battlefield, you have the opportunity to step back in time, and explore the battlefield, visit historical Gettysburg, or enjoy many of the amenities here, from a fully stocked lake and nature trail, living history grounds, and even many planned activities and tours. This is a full service campground, with a pool, general store, cafe and ice cream shop, and so much more that it can't all be shown here.
